What is NEK Alpine Reserve?
NEK Alpine Reserve offers private and premium guided scenic experiences in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom (think Jay Peak and Newport). Each experience is thoughtfully curated by season and designed to feel relaxed, intentional, and unhurried.
Where do experiences begin?
All experiences begin at door-to-door. This is usually in Jay Vermont. Exact meeting details are provided after booking.
How long is an experience?
Most experiences last approximately 3 hours, though timing may vary slightly depending on conditions, group size, and seasonal considerations.
Are the experiences private or shared?
Both options are available. Guests may book individual spots on select experiences or reserve a private experience, which includes exclusive use of the vehicle for your group.
What is included in the experience?
Each experience includes guided transportation, curated scenic routes and stops with both opportunities for photography and the chance to visit local shops and eateries.
Do experiences follow a fixed itinerary?
No. Routes and stops are intentionally flexible and may vary based on season, weather, and group preferences. This approach allows each experience to reflect the best conditions of the day while maintaining a consistent standard of quality.
What should I bring?
Guests should dress in weather-appropriate clothing and wear comfortable, closed-toe footwear suitable for light walking. Vermont weather can change quickly, so warm layers are recommended. A camera or phone for photos is welcome. Light snacks and comfort items for children are encouraged.
Are experiences suitable for children?
Yes. Family-friendly experiences are available and designed to accommodate guests of all ages. Adults-only experiences are reserved for guests 21 and over.
Is food or alcohol included?
Food and beverages are not included in the base experience unless otherwise noted. Some experiences may include opportunities to visit local establishments where guests may make individual purchases.
How many guests are on each experience?
Group sizes are intentionally limited to ensure a comfortable, relaxed experience. Private experiences reserve the entire vehicle for your group.
What type of vehicle is used?
Transportation is provided in a clean, comfortable passenger van appropriate for the group size and season.
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to limited capacity and advance planning, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled experience. Full cancellation details are provided during booking.
What happens if the weather is poor?
Experiences operate in a variety of winter conditions. In cases of severe or unsafe weather, NEK Alpine Reserve may adjust routes, reschedule, or cancel an experience to ensure guest safety. In the case of a cancellation, someone from the team will reach out and work with you to either refund you or reschedule another date.
Do you offer custom or private experiences?
Yes. Private experiences are available and may be tailored to the group’s interests, timing, and preferences within seasonal and logistical considerations.
Do you support local organizations?
Yes. A portion of all NEK Alpine Reserve experiences will be helping to support Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) as part of our commitment to the local community.
